Philanthropy Creates A Healthy Future
Twenty-five top donors and dozens of other physicians and their families have helped to create a healthy future by ensuring that nine first-year medical students receive a $5,000 scholarship. Many of these TMA Foundation donors recently attended a celebratory luncheon held during TMA's TexMed meeting in Austin where these outstanding students were honored.
TMA created its Minority Scholarship Program in 1996 to help diversify the physician workforce to fulfill the needs of Texas' changing population. Among its criteria, the scholarship seeks individuals committed to community service and aimed at "improving the health of all Texans."
