Jan. 14, 2015
WHAT: Dallas residents of all ages are encouraged to
lace up their walking shoes and join Sarah Helfand, MD, for Dallas' free
Walk With a Doc Texas event.
WHEN:
Weekly. The first walk is Saturday, Jan. 17, at 8 am.
WHERE:
Coombs Creek
Trail, Kessler Parkway, Dallas (meet at the corner of Kessler Parkway and Oak
Knoll Street)
WHO: Dallas pediatrician
Sarah Helfand, MD
“I
got involved with Walk With a Doc to provide an easy, free way for my patients
and neighbors to get physical activity,” said Dr. Helfand. “As a pediatrician, I’m
seeing too many children develop Type II diabetes because of obesity. It is
painful to see my young patients already having complications as a result of obesity
and inactivity.”
The Walk With a Doc
concept is simple: Physicians organize walks in their communities and invite
their patients and their patients’ families to join them. Walk
With a Doc
is overseen by a national nonprofit organization.
This is a free program. Preregistration
is not required. Future walks will be announced on the Walk
With a Doc website.
