To date, $1,550 has been donated to the TMAF Medical Student Community Leadership Grant (MSCLG) Program in memory of Timothy E. Drake, MD, of Plano. This initiative supports health improvement initiatives that are carried out by Texas medical school students, who typically collaborate with business and community groups to address local health issues such as childhood obesity, immunizations, diabetes and more.
Dr. Drake practiced family medicine at The Medical Center of Plano where he was chairman of numerous committees including the Infection Prevention and Control Committee, the Continuing Education Committee and the Antibiotic Stewardship Committee.
Annually, TMA medical student chapters may apply to the MSCLG program for a matching grant of up to $3,000. The deadline for this year’s grant cycle is August 29th. Learn more about previously funded programs and how medical students around the state are improving the health of all Texans.
