Austin Physician Elected TMA Secretary/Treasurer

Michelle A. Berger, MD, an Austin ophthalmologist, was elected secretary/treasurer of the Texas Medical Association (TMA), the nation’s largest state medical society. Dr. Berger was elected today at TexMed, the association’s annual conference in Fort Worth.   
"I am honored to serve as TMA's Secretary/Treasurer and will work to ensure our organization's legacy of helping Texas doctors care for our patients," said Dr. Berger.

Dr. Berger has a long history of leadership throughout her 32 years as a TMA member. She served on the TMA Council on Socioeconomics and as a TMA alternate delegate to the American Medical Association. Locally, Dr. Berger is immediate past president of the Travis County Medical Society and past chair of the Travis County Delegation to TMA.  

Dr. Berger graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed her residency at Scott & White Hospital in Temple. She is a practicing ophthalmologist for nearly 30 years and past president of the Texas Ophthalmology Association.

TMA is the largest state medical society in the nation, representing more than 47,000 physician and medical student members. It is located in Austin and has 112 component county medical societies around the state. TMA’s key objective since 1853 is to improve the health of all Texans.
