Looking to know how much Medicare will pay you for a service in 2014? Novitas has posted 2014 fee schedules for Texas in text-delimited files. The Medicare contractor
says it will publish PDF and Microsoft Excel formats in the near future.
Keep an eye on Novitas' main fee schedule page for Jurisdiction H (JH) for news, updates, bulletins, and other information. Soon to be updated for 2014 is the JH Fee Schedule Calculator, which will give you base payment rates, including PAR, non-PAR, limiting charges, and rates for when you perform the service in a facility setting.
Take note of the changes below, if they apply to your practice.
- Effective for dates of service on or after April 1, 2104, Medicare will use national fee schedule amounts to pay for splints and casts, and intraocular lenses inserted in a physician's office, rather than calculating payment for these items based on "reasonable charges." Find details in MLN Matters No. 8523 (PDF).
- In 2014, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services implements the fourth year of the transition where all end-stage renal disease (ESRD) facilities will be paid 100 percent of the ESRD bundled prospective payment system amount. Find more information in MLN Matters No. 8472 Revised (PDF).
- Information about the 2014 update for durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies fee schedule is here: MLN Matters No. 8531 (PDF).
