TMAA Membership Information

What is the Alliance? Advocates for Physicians!

TMA Alliance (TMAA) is the largest, most important organization representing the family of medicine in the State of Texas. TMA, TMAA and the local county medical societies and alliances form a unified force to improve the health of the citizens of Texas in their communities and across the state.

TMAA is organized at the county level in a structure which parallels the organization of county medical societies affiliated with Texas Medical Association. Approximately 28 medical alliances are organized at the county level, with memberships ranging from 12 to around 450. Physicians and their spouses who reside in areas with no organized medical alliance may join as members-at-large, with no local dues, and represent medicine in their communities through involvement in various civic groups or individual activities. While activities at the county level vary widely, many participate in state-sponsored projects and, at the same time, sponsor local projects and offer special interest groups for members such as investment clubs, Partners in Practice (members who work in their spouses' offices), book clubs, and support groups for members undergoing the trauma of malpractice suits or drug and alcohol dependency.

Make a difference in your community!

The Alliance raises funds for scholarships, research and grants, participates in health projects that improve people's lives, and protects the future of medicine through legislative advocacy.
