Austin Physician Elected to TMA’s Board of Trustees

David C. Fleeger, MD, an Austin board-certified colon and rectal surgeon, was elected to serve on the Texas Medical Association (TMA) Board of Trustees. Dr. Fleeger was elected today at TMA’s annual conference in San Antonio.

Dr. Fleeger has been active in TMA throughout his 22-year medical career, beginning as chair of the Young Physician Section and on its governing council. He also has served on TMA’s Committee on Physician Distribution and Health Care Access and its Council on Practice Management Services, and was a delegate to TMA’s House of Delegates. 

Currently, he serves on TMA’s Council on Health Care Quality and on the Texas Delegation to the American Medical Association. Dr. Fleeger is District 14 vice chair for TEXPAC, TMA’s Political Action Committee.

Dr. Fleeger graduated from Texas A&M College of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minn., and his colon and rectal surgery residency at Louisiana State University-Schumpert Medical Center.

TMA is the largest state medical society in the nation, representing more than 47,000 physician and medical student members. It is located in Austin and has 112 component county medical societies around the state. TMA’s key objective since 1853 is to improve the health of all Texans.
