Award Recognizes Physician Quality

TMF Health Quality Institute, TMA, and the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association (TOMA) have teamed up to sponsor the Texas Physician Practice Quality Improvement Award to recognize Texas physician practices that focus on exceptional preventive services and use health information technology in everyday practice.

The program is available to any practice in Texas with one or more Texas-licensed physicians who treat Medicare fee-for-service patients. There are four major award criteria:

  1. Adoption of health information technology,
  2. Regular use of population care management methods,
  3. Participation in data-reporting quality initiatives, and
  4. Top performance on nationally recognized clinical outcomes measures.

TMA and TOMA meetings will recognize award recipients. In addition, TMF will launch a media campaign to announce recipients statewide in medical publications, magazines, and news publications, and will provide a press kit for physicians to use with their local broadcast and print media. Practices meeting the criteria will receive a plaque recognizing their accomplishment.

Physicians may nominate their practices until Sept. 30 by completing an easy one-page online nomination form or faxing a hard copy of the self-nomination form to (512) 334-1756.

For additional information, call Suzanne Daly at (512) 964-5988, or email sdaly[at]txqio[dot]sdps[dot]org or ppqualityaward[at]tmf[dot]org.
