As more practices implement electronic health records and other technologies, the need for a workforce with this skill set grows. Texas State University is conducting a statewide survey to determine health information technology (HIT) workforce needs in the state. The goal is to collect quantitative data regarding the skills and knowledge needed, as well as the number of workers needed now and in the future. The school will use the survey results to inform higher education program development officials across Texas.
Survey participants will receive preliminary summary of the results in return for their participation. Any identifying information obtained in connection with this study will remain confidential as provided for by the Texas State University Institutional Review Board approval.
Physicians are encouraged to participate and can respond here to receive the survey via email in late September.
