The Coordination of Benefits contract embraces all of those activities necessary to ensure that the primary payer - whether it is Medicare, employer insurance, or other insurance - pays first, and then makes arrangements for transferring the claims automatically to the secondary payer for further processing. All Medicare secondary payer claims investigations will be initiated from and researched by the COB contractor.
The COB contractor will provide customer service to all callers from any source, including but not limited to physicians or other health care providers, beneficiaries, attorneys or other beneficiary representatives, employers, insurers, and suppliers.
