WHAT : Texas Medical Association's (TMA's) Be Wise - ImmunizeSM program announces vaccination clinics across Texas to shield children from harmful and potentially deadly diseases

WHEN : July 31- Sept. 3, 2010

WHERE : Your community and others across the state (see schedule below)

WHO : TMA physicians, medical students, TMA Alliance members, county medical societies (CMSs), and community immunization coalitions

WHY : Vaccines protect children and can potentially save lives. August is National Immunization Month, and kids need their shots before heading back to school. TMA is gearing up to provide vaccinations and educate children and parents about the importance of immunizations.

TMA's Be Wise ― Immunize program has given Texas children more than 161,000 shots since the program began in 2004. In that time, Texas' infant vaccination rank rose from 22nd nationally in 2007 to 12th in 2008 (National Immunization Survey data). After working solely to improve child immunization rates, Be Wise expanded to improve adolescent immunization rates as well in 2009.
