David Teuscher, MD, an orthopaedic surgeon from Beaumont, was elected to serve on the Texas Medical Association (TMA) Board of Trustees. TMA's House of Delegates, the association's governing body, elected Dr. Teuscher to the position during the association's annual conference held April 30-May 1.
Dr. Teuscher has served in several key TMA leadership roles, including chair of the Committee on Professional Liability, member of the Council on Legislation, and district chair of TMA's political action committee, TEXPAC. He currently is a member of TEXPAC's Executive Committee, and serves as a TMA delegate to the American Medical Association's House of Delegates.
Dr. Teuscher has led the Jefferson County Medical Society as president and still serves on the society's board. He also represents Jefferson County in the TMA House of Delegates.
Dr. Teuscher is a past president and current board member of the Texas Orthopaedic Association, and serves on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Teuscher also is vice chair of the Texas Youth Commission Board of Directors.
Locally, Dr. Teuscher is a member of the Beaumont Rotary Club, Westgate Memorial Baptist Church, and Beaumont Chamber of Commerce Board, and he co-chaired a Beaumont citizens committee that helped pass a $389 million school bond.
TMA is the largest state medical society in the nation, representing nearly 45,000 physician and medical student members. It is located in Austin and has 120 component county medical societies around the state. TMA's key objective since 1853 is to improve the health of all Texans.
