- Enact health care-friendly public policy and oppose onerous bureaucratic burdens
- Invest in prevention
- Protect and promote a fair civil justice system
- Provide appropriate state and federal funding for physician services
- Assist physicians and their staff manage and reduce payer hassles
- Establish fair, transparent insurance markets for patients, employers, taxpayers, and physicians
In the courts, TMA:
- Continues lawsuits against the nation’s largest health plans to reduce physicians’ overhead, reduce time spent contesting claims, obtain fair reimbursement, and control medical necessity decision making
- Files amicus curiae (friend of the court) briefs on medical litigation issues
- Challenges state licensing boards to protect physicians’ scope of practice
