Medical Ethics

Here is guidance on appropriate standards of conduct for the physician, as well as links to continuing medical education courses with ethics credit.

CME Courses:

 Physicians must complete 48 credits of continuing medical education every 24 months to maintain the Texas medical license. The credits may be earned in formal and informal CME activities of which two credits in formal CME must be designated for ethics and/or professional responsibility content.

 82nd Texas Legislature:  

TMA letter on Senate Bill 16, the abortion-sonogram legislation
 "TMA’s member physicians fall on both sides of the abortion debate. TMA’s concerns regarding SB 16, however, do not pertain to that highly political issue. ... TMA is concerned that SB 16 not only sets a dangerous precedent of legislation prescribing the details of the practice of medicine, but it also clearly mandates that physicians practice in a manner inconsistent with medical ethics."
