Toolkit Helps Patients Start Year Healthy

As we ring in a new year, your patients likely are setting goals to improve their health. You are the key to ensuring that your patients keep their New Year's resolutions to lose weight, quit smoking, and eat better. And it's easy to do with office-based tools offered in TMA's new toolkit.

Check out the American Medical Association Healthier Life Steps ™ program, brought to you by TMA. It provides practical and easy-to-use resources to help your patients achieve their New Year's goals. The comprehensive toolkit includes patient questionnaires, action plans, progress calendars, and more. It focuses on these four key behaviors:

  • Healthy eating,
  • Increasing physical activity,
  • Quitting smoking, and
  • Reducing risky drinking.

AMA Healthier Life Steps program materials are free for physicians and patients. All materials are available in English and Spanish.

You can earn up to 1 hour of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit ™ by reading the program's physicians' guide. Other continuing medical education programs related to obesity and smoking cessation also are available on the Web site.

For more information, contact TMA's outreach coordinator at  TMA Outreach Coordinator  or (800) 880-1300, ext. 1470, or (512) 370-1470.
