How much do physicians know about the need for screening to prevent cervical cancer and the resources available to screen for and detect the cancer? That's what Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) officials want to find out. Experts estimate that in 2009, approximately 1,054 Texas women will be diagnosed with invasive cervical cancer, and 381 women will die of the disease.
DSHS is asking physicians to complete a survey on cervical cancer and screening by Nov. 30.
More information and resources on cervical cancer in Texas are available on the DSHS Web site.
