The Texas Department of State Health Services is asking physicians who administer H1N1 vaccine to submit their patients' immunization records, regardless of age, to the statewide immunization registry, ImmTrac. The system is designed to consolidate immunization records from multiple sources and allow physicians easy online access to their patient’s immunization histories.
The registry includes mainly child vaccination records and data from first responders. However, state law now requires all vaccination records of any antiviral, immunization, or other medication to be reported to ImmTrac during a public health disaster. This means physicians must enter H1N1 data as part of the public health declared pandemic.
The H1N1 pandemic information entered into ImmTrac will mark the first time physicians report statewide public health emergency data to the registry. This is a step in the development of the statewide registry. Lawmakers also passed a lifespan registry bill in 2009, which TMA supported. The lifespan registry will allow all immunization records to be stored in ImmTrac.
Training
DSHS also offers ImmTrac Reporting Processes for 2009 H1N1 Vaccine Training on the state’s Vaccine Provider Information Web page. The online training demonstrates different options on how to report immunization information to the registry.
