Texas physicians are writing more prescriptions than ever, according to a survey by SureScripts, the organization that operates the country's largest electronic prescribing network.

SureScripts' fourth annual Safe-RxTM Awards rankings show that Texas rose from 30th to 29th in the nation, increasing the percentages of total prescriptions routed electronically from 0.33 percent in 2006 and 0.96 percent in 2007 to 3.17 percent in 2008.

The Safe-Rx Awards recognize outstanding efforts to improve patient safety and practice efficiency through electronic prescribing technology.
