Political Action at Work - May 2009

Is the patient following Doctor's Orders? Is the Texas Legislature taking our prescription for a healthy Texas? It's crunch time, and we have just 10 days left to find out.

The June 1 end of the 2009 Texas Legislature nears, with many important issues still up in the air. The Texas Medical Association is passing some good bills and killing some bad ones on behalf of you and your patients.

Welcome to May's installment of TMA's Political Action at Work, our monthly video update of how TMA is fighting for our profession at the Texas capitol.

This month's video includes:

  • A progress report on our Patients' Right to Know campaign for health insurance reform, including footage of one of our bills passing the Texas Senate;
  • Our work to protect the 2003 medical liability reforms and stop unsafe expansion of allied health practitioners' scope of practice; and
  • Shots of an extra-special lobby day at the capitol.
