TMA Tool Helps You Find Right EHR

TMA members have overwhelmingly indicated they need help when it comes to health information technology. They specifically want help choosing the right electronic health record (EHR) system.

TMA has worked with EHR vendors that have a strong presence in Texas to offer member physicians an EHR product comparison tool. The TMA Council on Practice Management Services and Ad Hoc Committee on Health Information Technology felt that a Consumer Reports -type comparison tool would best serve TMA members.

None of the EHR vendors are endorsed by TMA. TMA included information from the top vendors MembersOnlyRed(PDF) according to market share as indicated in TMA surveys from 2005, 2007 and 2009. TMA's goal is to help members choose the appropriate EHR system for their practice. In addition, the tool is intended to help physicians learn what questions to ask when selecting an EHR system.
