Vol. 105, Issue No. 5 - May 2009
COVER STORY (pages 16-22)
President Obama's economic stimulus plan includes $19 billion to help physicians purchase and implement health information technology systems. The bill makes some big promises to physicians who use electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Physicians will be eligible for funds from 2011 through 2016 if they demonstrate "meaningful use" of a certified EMR technology. Now all the government has to do is define "meaningful use."
