UnitedHealthcare is expanding its support of e-prescribing from small pilots in three states to include Texas and several other states. The Texas phase will begin in the Austin, San Antonio, and Waco markets.
Up to 200 United-contracted physicians, representing the insurer's highest patient-volume and highest prescription-volume practitioners, will be offered the opportunity to have Zix Corporation install and train physicians and their office staff in the Pocket Script e-prescribing service.
United will support 75 percent of the cost of installation and maintenance of the system for the first year of use in each physician's office.
United will provide more information later.
If you're not prescribing electronically, you should be. The TMA Web site offers e-prescribing tools and tips that give you the information you need to get started. They're also valuable for physicians who have already begun e-prescribing.
