Houston Symposium Targets Smoking

The state of smoking in Texas and future policy priorities will be discussed at the Texas Wellness & Smoking Policy Symposium Dec. 1 in Houston. Other topics include helping smokers quit and a preview of the 2009 legislative session.

Speakers will include former state health commissioner Eduardo Sanchez, MD, now the vice president and chief medical officer of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas; State Epidemiologist Vincent Fonseca, MD, MPH; and Paul Cinciripini, PhD, director of The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Tobacco Research & Treatment Program.

The free seminar will be held from 10 am to 3:30 pm at the M.D. Anderson Griffin Education and Conference Center South Campus Research Bldg., Conference Rooms 1 and 2, at 7435 Fannin.
