TMA's Council on Socioeconomics has urged the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to adopt more fair and rational methods [PDF] for setting the Geographic Practice Cost Index (GPCI) modifiers to the Medicare physician payment system.
Council Chair Keith Bourgeois, MD, says in a letter to CMS that new payment locality definitions are "long overdue."
