The Texas Medical Liability Trust (TMLT) has contracted with the Texas Medical Liability Insurance Underwriting Association (JUA) to offer JUA policyholders risk management services, many of them for free. They include:

  • Practice reviews,
  • Phone access to risk management professionals,
  • Continuing education courses, and
  • Publications that discuss risk management issues.

"TMLT has a very qualified and experienced risk management team," said JUA General Manager Deborah Samples. "We are excited to be able to offer these services to our policyholders."

The TMLT Risk Management Department offers practice reviews, phone consultations, award-winning publications, continuing medical education courses, workshops, and seminars to physicians and ancillary staff.

"TMLT looks forward to partnering with the JUA in providing valuable risk management services and assisting their policyholders in mitigating risks," said Jane Holeman, vice president for risk management at TMLT. "We believe that the risk management tools TMLT has developed over the years can effectively assist physicians in practicing safe medicine."

TMLT, a not-for-profit health care liability claim trust owned by its physician policyholders, is the largest medical liability insurance provider in the state, protecting more than 14,000 Texas physicians. Only TMA members may purchase TMLT policies.
