Workers' Compensation: Medical Fee Guideline Update

Keywords: Seminars  Workers_Compensation

A new Texas workers’ compensation medical fee guideline that takes effect on March 1 will increase payments for physicians who treat injured workers under the workers’ comp system and apply a new, improved method for determining the annual physician fee revision.

If you treat workers’ comp patients in your practice, you’ll want to be up to date on all the changes before March 1. Listen in on TMA’s Feb. 20 Learn@Lunch audio seminar, “Workers’ Compensation: Medical Fee Guideline Update,” when TMA’s Michael Reed will explain the basic information you need to know. As director of TMA’s Managed Care Delivery Systems department, Mr. Reed deals with workers’ comp issues on behalf of the association. If you send him questions prior to the seminar at michael.reed@texmed.org, he will answer your questions after his presentation.

In this noon-to-1-pm session, you will:

  • Learn about the workers’ compensation fee increase for physicians,
  • Find out about the new and improved method for annual increases in fees,
  • Discover if you qualify for the new “critical access” bonuses paid to physicians, and
  • Learn about the new workers’ comp-specific codes for case management and treatment planning.

Register today. You can train your entire office about the new workers’ compensation rules with one low registration fee.

The Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation has posted Frequently Asked Questions concerning the new medical fee guideline rules (28 Texas Administrative Code §§134.1, 134.2, 134.203, and 134.204).

TMA’s Learn@Lunch audio seminars provide you and your staff a quick and easy way to stay on top of important issues that affect the business side of your medical practice. You can listen in on these one-hour updates alone or with several colleagues from the same office. It’s a quick, no-hassle way to learn more about important issues without leaving the office.
