San Antonio's Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center is the setting for TMA's TexMed 2008 Educational Showcase & Expo May 2-3. Tex Med is free to all TMA members. It includes more than 100 hours of continuing medical education programming (CME), a chance to influence TMA policy on issues that affect your practice, and an exhibit hall with more than 160 vendors.
Here’s what’s you can do at TexMed 2008:
· Attend TMA House of Delegates sessions in the new Friday/Saturday format.
· Earn up to a $1,000 professional liability discount from the Texas Medical Liability Trust by attending approved CME tracks.
· Check out vendors and sponsors showcasing their wares in the Expo Hall, packed with innovative technologies, products, and services for improving your practice.
· Sit in on Physician Profiling, a session dealing with quality measures, data collection, and how to use this data for continuous improvement; pay for performance and consumer-directed products; and tiering networks and rating systems. The session will run from 8 am to 4 pm on Friday.
· Hear David Oshinsky, PhD, a University of Texas at Austin history professor who won the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for History for his book, "Polio: An American Story, ”speak at the General Session 4:30-5:30 pm Friday. Visit with Dr. Oshinsky at the Texas Medical Liability Trust Welcome Reception & Book-Signing afterward, from 5:30 to 7 pm, and enter the 42” LCD TV Giveaway, also sponsored by TMLT.
· Salsa the night away at TMA Foundation’s Gala: Night on the Mexican Riviera on Friday from 7 to 11 pm.
· Enjoy the TMA/TMA Alliance 2008-09 Presidents' Installation Luncheon on Saturday, Noon-1:15 pm. Josie R. Williams, MD, Bryan, will become TMA president, and Patrick Hearn, Wichita Falls, will be installed as the Alliance president.
· Stroll around San Antonio, enjoying museums, historical missions, sports events, shopping dining, and adventure theme parks.
