The Texas Medicaid Program is looking for a medical director to oversees operations and provide medical consultation and direction for benefits design and development for all medical services in Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program. The job pays between $8,500.58 and $13,703.66 monthly.
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission says a physician who has an interest in developing major policies should apply. The position does not involve seeing patients in a clinical setting, and a pediatrician is preferred because the majority of Medicaid clients are children.
Among the requirements are:
· Graduation from an accredited college of medicine with a degree as a medical doctor;
· Licensed as a medical doctor by the State of Texas;
· Board certified in family practice, pediatrics, internal medicine, public health, quality assurance/medical management or obstetrics/gynecology;
· Five years experience in medical practice, and
· Experience with clinical practice guidelines development, research, and written and oral scientific and medical communication.
