Texas Medicaid Program Gets a PERM

Starting in January, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will begin using the Payment Error Rate Measurement (PERM) process to measure improper payments in the Texas Medicaid Program and the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). Physicians and other health care professionals will be required to give CMS medical record documentation to support the medical reviews that a federal review contractor will conduct for fee-for-service and primary care case management Medicaid and SCHIP claims.
