Three Settlements Net Texas Physicians $11 Million to Date

Thanks to TMA’s work on the national antiracketeering, class-action lawsuits against the nation’s largest health plans , Texas physicians and their patients are seeing big changes in how the plans run their businesses. While those changes were the primary goal of our suits, we’ve also won hundreds of millions nationally in repayment for previous abuses. Counting just the settlements with Aetna, CIGNA, and WellPoint, Texas physicians have recovered nearly $11 million so far. More payments will follow from settlements with other plans for those who filed claims during the filing period for each settlement. The most recent settlement, which includes Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, involves a guaranteed cash payment of more than $128 million nationwide. TMA will alert you when the time arrives for filing claims in that case.
