Key Leaders Join “Yes on 12!”

“Yes on 12!” is honored to have the support of two key leaders in the fight for a balanced and fair legal system: state Senator Bill Ratliff (PDF) and Representative Joe Nixon.  The authors of the comprehensive civil justice reforms passed during the regular legislative session this year will play pivotal roles in our campaign, bringing to our effort not only their deep knowledge of the issue but also the high esteem in which both leaders are held.

With more than 250 members, “Yes on 12!” continues to grow.  Joining our ranks this week are the Ft Worth Chamber of Commerce, San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce, Associated Builders and Contractors-Texas and the Texas Oil and Gas Association (TXOGA).

Time to Get to Work!

With our coalition in place, it’s now time to roll up our sleeves.  Every one of our coalition members will soon be receiving your Grassroots Action Kit.  The kit will provide each of you several activities your organization or business can engage in to ensure passage of Proposition 12!  Please watch for the kit!

Do you know of other groups who should be part of our effort but aren’t?  If you would like to help us recruit additional coalition allies and need campaign information, please contact Aaron Strasser at (512) 457-1212.

Personal Injury Trial Lawyers - Is That All They Have?

Several news stories have been published in the last few days on Proposition 12.  Personal injury trial lawyers are hiding behind the premise that this is a “separation of branches” issue (Houston Chronicle, July 9, 2003).  The bottom line is, they are trying to obscure the facts: Proposition 12 is about providing affordable and accessible health care for Texas patients.

We must work to ensure that voters aren’t confused or mislead by our opposition.  If you’re for affordable and accessible health care, vote for Proposition 12 in September.

Early Voting Locations - Where the Battle Begins!

Our first campaign battle begins August 27, 2003 and ends September 9, 2003!  Which battle?  The early voting battle, and it’s ours to win!

As you know, there are two types of early voting in Texas.  Vote early in person (you don’t need to vote in your precinct but can cast your ballot at any early voting site convenient to you) or vote early by mail (this is done by requesting an application for a ballot to be mailed to you).

To print a copy of the application for ballot by mail go to: http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/forms/index.shtml
