- A Dazzling Night for TMA Foundation
Exciting silent auction items, exquisite Tiffany & Co.
treasures, and an authentic, Texas-style dinner highlighted TMA
Foundation's 12th annual benefit
Jeans and
Jewels
on Friday, May 13th during TexMed 2005, which raised an estimated
$360,000 for the philanthropic arm of TMA and the public health
programs it funds. This total represents the largest gross amount
ever raised by a TMA foundation benefit.
More than 500 physicians, their spouses, medical students, and
corporate sponsor guests saddled up and rode out to the Gaylord
Texan for a silent auction featuring nearly 300 items, along with a
specially commissioned painting by internationally known Dallas
artist Amanda Dunbar depicting the family of medicine's important
role in immunizations.
Tiffany & Co.'s signature "Keys for a Cause" also headlined
the event, inviting guests to purchase keys with a chance of
opening a vitrine full of wrapped Tiffany & Co. gifts. Guests
with winning keys could select the box of their choice for a
wonderful surprise.
Led by chairmen Dr. and Mrs. Dennis J. Factor and Mr. and Mrs.
Alan Losinger,
Jeans and
Jewels
also featured an encore performance by Larry "T-Byrd" Gordon and
The Music People Luv Band, as well as a dazzling show by the Lake
Highlands High School Wildcat Wranglers, a country and western
dance troupe made up of high school junior and senior students that
performs at 50 events each year, including Dallas Cowboy football
games and Dallas Maverick basketball games.
Mark your calendar for Friday, May 5, 2006, for the foundation's
13th annual benefit. You're sure to think the world of this
event!
