Houston Cardiologist Reelected to TMA’s Board of Trustees

A. Tomas Garcia III, MD, a Houston cardiologist, was reelected to serve on the Texas Medical Association (TMA) Board of Trustees. Dr. Garcia was elected today at TMA’s annual conference in San Antonio.

Dr. Garcia has been chair and secretary of the TMA Board of Trustees, chair of TMA’s Committee on Cardiovascular Diseases, and president of the TMA Foundation, the association’s philanthropic arm. He is a TMA delegate to the American Medical Association’s House of Delegates and a district chair of TEXPAC, TMA’s Political Action Committee.

Dr. Garcia also has served on TMA’s Council on Legislation and Border Health Caucus. Over the years, Dr. Garcia has advocated for improving the health of all Texans by testifying before the Texas Legislature. He is a past president of the Harris County Medical Society.

TMA is the largest state medical society in the nation, representing more than 47,000 physician and medical student members. It is located in Austin and has 112 component county medical societies around the state. TMA’s key objective since 1853 is to improve the health of all Texans.
