Athens Physician Reelected to TMA’s Board of Trustees

Douglas W. Curran, MD, an Athens family physician for nearly 35 years was reelected to serve on the Texas Medical Association (TMA) Board of Trustees. Dr. Curran was elected today during TMA’s annual conference in San Antonio.

“I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to serve my profession in this capacity,” said Dr. Curran. “I will continue to work hard through TMA to serve our patients and maintain the health and well-being of all Texans.”

Dr. Curran has dedicated his life to improving the health of all Texans. Currently, he is a member of the TMA of the Future Ad Hoc Committee. He has served on TMA’s Council on Legislation and Council on Member Services, as a consultant to the TMA Committee on Professional Liability, and on the Executive Committee for TEXPAC, TMA’s Political Action Committee.

Locally, Dr. Curran is a member of the Henderson County Medical Society and represents his medical society in TMA’s House of Delegates.

TMA is the largest state medical society in the nation, representing more than 47,000 physician and medical student members. It is located in Austin and has 112 component county medical societies around the state. TMA’s key objective since 1853 is to improve the health of all Texans.
