The 17th annual benefit gala on Friday, April 30, 2010 is geared to be the best yet, offering a night filled with western charm and entertainment. Texas Legends: Celebrating Lone Star Trailblazers will be held in the heart of downtown Fort Worth during TexMed 2010 at the newly built Omni Fort Worth Hotel. Gala highlights will include a sumptuous dinner, followed by live entertainment and dancing. A silent auction will provide guests with an opportunity to participate in friendly competition, with all gala proceeds benefiting TMAF and the health improvement programs it makes possible. TMA Alliance Continues 16 Year Tradition! More than 50 alliance members donated nearly $2,000 to the TMAA 2009 Holiday Sharing Card campaign which benefits the work of TMA Foundation, the philanthropic arm of TMA. The alliance started the program in 1993. TMAF funds health improvement initiatives including TMA's Hard Hats for Little Heads, Be Wise-Immunize, Minority Scholarship Program and more.
2010 TMA Grants Approved! TMA Foundation Board of Trustees has approved more than $235,000 in grants to TMA health improvement and science initiatives for 2010. Read more about these grants here.
2010 TMA Foundation John P. McGovern Champion of Health Award Winners Honored! The Volunteer Physicians of New Braunfels and Immunization Collaboration of Tarrant County were honored at the recent TMA Winter Conference in Austin as the winners of the 2010 TMA Foundation John P. McGovern Champion of Health Awards. Read more about these programs and the award here.
TMA Foundation Funded Program Wins Two Public Relations Awards! TMA's Hard Hats for Little Heads is a two-time award winner: TMA's Hard Hats for Little Heads program won the Fan Favorite/Best Campaign Award from the Austin Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and the Silver Spur Award in the Texas Public Relations Association's 2009 Silver Spur/Best of Texas Competition. The awards are given for outstanding achievement in nonprofit public relations. Since TMA started the program in 1994, physicians and their families have provided 55,000 Texas children with helmets to prevent head and brain injury while riding a bike.
