Prostate Cancer

The Texas Cancer Registry estimates, 15,506 new cases of prostate cancer will be diagnosed in 2008. Approximately 1,895 of those diagnosed will die of the disease. All men are at risk for prostate cancer, but African-American men are at highest risk for this disease. The benefits of screening and early detection, secondary prevention, in reducing the incidence of prostate cancer remain controversial; however, primary prevention approaches are promising.
