TMAF raised nearly $725,000 in 2013 making it possible to substantially increase grant support to TMA for its health promotion and quality of care programming in 2014. It also added a second deadline to its Medical Community Grant program to attract additional county medical society and alliance chapter applicants.
The foundation secured two new institutional donors in 2013 who together donated/pledged $90,000 for two new TMA programs: Choosing Wisely and Walk with a Doc--Texas. Both programs represent a strategic commitment to provide additional community outreach, positively reinforce the physician-patient relationship and expand patient safety initiatives.
Including these new programs, TMAF is supporting a total of seven TMA initiatives in 2014, reflecting $388,516 in grant support. For every $1 TMA invests in TMAF in 2014, TMA receives $3.21 cents back in community health improvement and positive physician image.
Foundation support continues to include funding of TMA staff for both the Be Wise—Immunize and Hard Hats for Little Heads programs, as well as communications intern assistance for Walk with a Doc and Choosing Wisely. TMA provides in-kind staffing support for the other TMAF-funded programs.
