Legislators supported funding for the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) that will save lives through new therapies, as well as for the prevention and early detection of cancer. It also will allow CPRIT to invest in evidence-based cancer prevention programs that provide screening services to medically underserved populations, health care professionals’ training, and cancer awareness and education programs around the state.
