Some of your Medicaid patients may be eligible for the Health Insurance Premium Payment program (HIPP), which pays for the cost of medical premiums when it is less expensive to pay the insurance premiums than the projected Medicaid cost. The program reimburses qualified Medicaid families for health insurance obtained through a family member’s employer.
The program has several advantages for patients. For instance, family members who are not eligible for Medicaid may be covered under HIPP, and the health insurance HIPP pays for may cover services not normally covered under Medicaid.
