Barring a change of heart by the government, the way physicians practice medicine will drastically change Oct. 1, 2013, when they must begin using International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD)-10 to record all diagnoses and inpatient procedures. At TMA's urging, the American Medical Association is asking the federal government to stop the conversion.
