      Information and Resources

UnitedHealthcare is picking up the contract for covering state employees and retirees across the state. Starting September 1, 2012, UnitedHealthcare will serve as the third party administrator (TPA) for the self-funded HealthSelectSM of Texas health plan. The HealthSelect administrator is contracted to pay claims, provide customer service, offer health and wellness programs, and manage the HealthSelect provider network. The prescription drug plan will stay the same and continue to be administered by Caremark.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) will administer HealthSelect until August 31, 2012.

Physicians need to check their referrals from primary care physicians for specialist care. Referrals need to be done online rather than the old (BCBSTX) system where they were done over the phone.
