Topic Medicare: Medicare Revalidation Resumes
Background Section 6401 (a) of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act established a requirement for all enrolled physicians and suppliers to revalidate their enrollment information under new enrollment screening criteria. This revalidation effort applies to those physicians and suppliers who were enrolled before March 25, 2011.
Regulating Body CMS
Compliance Date 3/15/2013
Consequences Failure to respond to a revalidation request will result in a physician's Medicare billing number being suspended and all claims filed will be denied.
Next Steps Review the information on the Novitas-Solutions website, and watch for a revalidation letter in the mail if you meet the criteria.
