Topic New Requirement for Performing Medical Exams on Commercial Vehicle Drivers
Background Effective May 21, 2014, all health care professionals who perform physical examinations on and issue medical certificates for commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers will be required to complete accredited certification training and pass an exam.
Regulating Body Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
Compliance Date 5/21/2014
Consequences Physicians who do not complete this training will not be listed in the database of certified medical examiners in the National Registry.
