Topic Medicare: Medicare EHR Attestation Deadline - 2012 Payment Year
Background Medicare is paying physicians to meaningfully use an electronic health record. Once physicians meet the criteria, they must attest to meeting the criteria.
Regulating Body Medicare
Compliance Date 2/28/2013
Consequences Physicians participating in the Medicare electronic health record (EHR) incentive program have until Feb. 28 to complete their meaningful use attestation. If a physician does not timely attest, he or she will be ineligible to receive a 2012 EHR bonus.
Next Steps Physcians should make best efforts to attest to EHR program participation as soon as possible. This will avoid missing the deadline due to technical problems or other unforeseen issues.
